Finished home!

Can you tell that this home is built out of ICFs?

Updated 3/15/07

It is my intention to explain a number of these photos like I have further down this page. We have been extremely busy, so I will get that information down as soon as I can.

End of a long day.

Sometimes we work long days to get ready to pour the concrete. This day was no exception.

The front elevation.

An attempt at photography

I tried.

Wall is standing.

These forms can be put up very fast. Efficiency equals money saved!

Going home.

We got pretty far for really only working about 1/2 day. The buider is happy with the progress and is enjoying learning this new trade.

Cover up the forms.

A great way to have the building inspector not like what you are doing is to let the ICFs fill up with snow. We used the left over cardboard to cover up the ICFs during this snowstorm. That way, we do not have to worry about cleaning the forms out before we pour the walls.

The neighborhood.

This is an upsacle neighborhood east of Holland. The neighbors are nice and we are trying to keep it that way by cleaning up after ourselves.

Bracing.

This is a look at the bracing system used with this ICF. Now, for those who are installers, please note that this is a temporary set-up to make sure our walls are standing after tonights snow storm. For all others, that is also a valid statement. :)

A busy jobsite.

There is no doubt about it, ICFs attract a lot of attention! Everyone in the neighborhood stares out their window wondering why the house is being built out of styrofoam blocks.

John the ICF man.

John is back at it and is really excited about this new product.

Bracing, I mean look at that!

OK, the great thing about this picture is how compact the bracing system is. I love our ECO Block bracing, but, someone really put some thought into this system.

Another look

Here is another look at our fast progress.

So, what brand ICFs are these?

The name of the company is Build Block. I am impressed with these blocks, they were built by ICF installers for ICF installers.

And here we go.

Once we checked our footings to make sure there were no high or low spots, we snapped our lines and started setting the ICFs. It took us less than an hour to get this far!

Unloaded and ready to go.

You might have recognized that we are using a different brand of ICF. If you did, congratulate yourself because you are paying attention!

A semi load indeed!

Unloading the semi was a good way to keep warm. The temperature when we started was around 5 degrees.

A semi load of product

We arrived in time to follow the semi full of ICFs to the jobsite.

Footings.

This is a look from above. Soon there will be ICFs to view!

Footings and rebar.

We will be laying the ICF Blocks real soon. We are helping Mike Tervoort Custom Homes with this home.

Starting a new home

We have started a new home in Zeeland.
